The world as we know it has ended. A small remnant of humanity clings to life in what remains of Sweden, ruled by a sentient A.I. named Håkan Magnusson, which was put in place by Russians when they invaded the country.

Stefan Andersson survives alone in far northern Sweden for a nearly four-year-long nuclear winter, but a chance encounter with a young woman fleeing the camps draws him into conflict with Håkan Magnusson and he must journey south to Uppsala for a final confrontation in the heart of historic old Sweden.

Hakan Magnusson - A Swedish Apocalypse Story

Reviews

Compelling suspenseful and fascinating
Not your brother's apocalypse. A rich story with authentic Swedish coloring and steampunk accents overlaid on a moving human story. Stephen, the flawed hero, whose struggle to rescue Miko and his journey to reclaim her and his country from Haken, the all-powerful AI being is internal as well as external. He is fighting against, not only the Russians - but more against the dehumanization that could render him and his friends expendable and superfluous. Stephen is supported by an endearing yet gritty cast of characters. You won't be able to put this fast moving and thought-provoking tale down.
